There Was Time

Just me and another guy, I’m blocking out the noise of the crowd. I have one thing on my mind. Liked two caged animals we go at it. There is fury and love of the sport in our hearts. Neither of us wants to give in. There is too much pride and glory to lose. The sweat on the mat is too much. We can’t get a grip, he gets a chance and attacks! He slams me to the mat as if I was in the lightest weight class. Me being desperate to get up and out, I fight back, stand up, and break his iron grip.

no better feeling than getting your arm raised

Time is short. A minute left, and down by a point. Like a Spartan led by King Leonidas, I attack with everything I got left. Right on the mat I have him pinned. I stand up and get my arm raised. Walking off the mat with a smile on my face. I sat down and knew I worked my heart out and it was all worth it. Basically this story said, “If you have the desire you can succeed.” The only thing is do it before time runs out.  -Dalton
