Technology, I love it. The world is dependent on technology because we are so use to it. Everything about technology is so fascinating because of the simple fact that it is everywhere. We use it everyday, every minute, and every second. Me writing this from my laptop and you being able to read it from multiple places wasn’t possible many years ago.
It all started with cavemen, because they made the wheel and fire, which is technology in and of itself even though it’s not technology in the sense that we are used to hearing today. The technology we use today started from multiple people, but the main two are Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Edison. Franklin discovered electricity, which we manifested and manipulated so that we could use it to our advantage. That is what Edison did when he used electricity to create a light source called the light bulb. Till this day we use a light bulb similar to Edison’s original design so that we can still function when the sun is down. We use light bulbs for so many things that go beyond their convenience and use within our homes. We use them in cars, trains, planes, landing strips, and so much more. Now that we have light bulbs people are able to explore the dark depths of the ocean to discover so many new life forms that the world didn’t know about before.
Technology is great in so many ways. We have technology to discover things that we couldn’t discover before, like ancient fossils that help us learn more about the history of our earth. We have technology to save lives that we couldn’t save before. Hospital equipment like x-rays even allow us to see inside a person’s body. We have technology to travel where we couldn’t travel before. Technology has allows us to travel space in order to learn what is outside the planet Earth. We have technology to protect people from harm, such as in the way we have security systems for houses and buildings so that criminals can’t rob the place.
Despite the fact technology is extremely useful and convenient, it’s positives seem to equal it’s negatives. Technology can also ruin lives, like in the way that the atom bomb razed Hiroshima. It can also hide things that shouldn’t be hidden, like secret organizations planning to do criminal activities. Travel at speeds that are dangerous to everyone for example cars going so fast that can lose control and end a life. Also, guns are a unique example of technology that can be used for good or bad.
We have technology for entertainment like televisions, computers, cell phones, ipods and my personal favorite, video games. I know me and many others feel that without this technology we wouldn’t be able to function and they are right since they were brought up with this technology and not a stick and ball. Day by day technology grows and the world will change. Soon those sci fi movies will become true, along with a futuristic utopia with flying cars. All of this can become a reality all because of technology.
